What You Should Never Eat for Breakfast

When it comes to breakfast, are you a "just coffee" person? Maybe someone that grabs yogurt as you head out the door to work (assuming you're not working from home!)?

Your breakfast choices may be sabotaging your weight loss progress. Read on to discover what you should never eat for breakfast.

You’ve heard it over and over again: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

But what most people don’t know is that it’s not just breakfast that is important; it’s what you eat for breakfast that’s important.

This is because breakfast sets the pace of your metabolism for the entire day and what you choose for breakfast will either make or break your weight-loss efforts.

According to Byron J. Richards, Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist, the two signs of a poor breakfast are:

1. You are unable to make it five hours to lunch without food cravings or your energy crashing.

2. You are much more prone to strong food cravings later that afternoon or evening.

Do either of these sound familiar?

It pains me to see how many women suffer through diets and exhaust themselves at the gym just to have all of their hard work undone by eating the wrong breakfast.

Most women are rushed in the mornings and either skip breakfast or opt for a quick fix like a cup of coffee, some yogurt, a little fruit, a smoothie, a bar, or a muffin.

What you should never eat for breakfast. This is one of the biggest diet disasters and weight loss mistakes that I see women make.

This is one of the biggest diet disasters and weight loss mistakes that I see women make.

It doesn’t matter how much you exercise, it’s all for naught if your body is in fat-storing mode.

Breakfast options that contain high levels of carbs and hidden sugars slow the metabolism, turn on fat-storing hormones, and create hunger and cravings throughout the day.

So yes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

But what is the perfect breakfast for weight loss and fat burning? High protein!

Eating a high-protein breakfast can increase your metabolism by 30% for the entire day, which is the metabolic equivalent of going on a two-to-three-mile jog!

Eating a high-carbohydrate breakfast like fruit or oatmeal, on the other hand, can only enhance your metabolism by 4% or less.

The perfect breakfast, in addition to being high-protein, would also consist of a healthy fat and a glass of fresh green vegetable juice for optimum nourishment and fat burning throughout the day.

I encourage you to try eating a high protein breakfast for the next week or two and notice how you feel. Do you feel less hungry before lunch? Do you have more energy?

I think you'll be surprised by the results one simple change in your routine can make in your life and your weight loss.
