I did a lot of research and I worked with a lot of women with the same struggles and the same feelings that I had. And what I realized is that it wasn’t about calories in vs. calories out like we've all been told.

Really, it’s all about the way our bodies interact with certain foods.

It is a scientific fact that certain foods trigger the body to store fat and other foods trigger the body to burn fat (fat burning foods!).

For example, let’s look at a bag of popcorn that is only 100 calories. If you were trying to lose weight by counting calories, you’d think you were doing pretty well with this "low-calorie" snack.

What you might not realize is that popcorn is a grain which triggers a fat-storing hormone called insulin. This fat storing hormone not only stores fat, but blocks the ability to burn fat, causing even more weight gain.

On the other hand, if you were to eat an avocado, which is high in fat, it will not trigger insulin, and actually helps release fat-burning hormones.

The truth is, losing weight doesn't have to be hard or complicated. By eating fat burning foods you can enjoy what you're eating, you don't have to feel like you're hungry, you don't have to battle cravings, and you can still lose weight. Yes, even without exercise!

Fat-Storing Foods (Avoid these!)

1. Processed foods and fast foods are empty in terms of nutrition and they stimulate the brain to just keep eating more, so it’s a never-ending loop of bad eating that only makes you feel worse.

2. Grains and gluten products include flour, rice, pasta, bread, cereal, crackers, cookies, chips, etc.

3. Sugars and artificial sweeteners include honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, common sugars and most fruits. (see below for Fat Burning sweeteners)

4. Vegetable oil, along with all highly processed oils such as soybean, canola, corn, and vegetable oil. (see below for Fat Burning oils)

5. Alcohol turns to sugar, so no alcohol.

1. Proteins such as chicken, beef, turkey, seafood, and pork (organic and grass-fed/free-range when possible).

2. Vegetables have carbs, but they're the type of carbs that don't activate your fat storing hormones and they're loaded with nutrients.

3. Healthy fats include grass-fed butter, olive oil, avocado oil, and coconut oil.

4. Berries are low-sugar fruit, so limit yourself to strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, or blueberries.

5. Sweeteners include Stevia, monk fruit, and xylitol, which are naturally derived and have proven health benefits.
