Vegetables can also be useful in preventing things like heart disease and high blood pressure. And, of course, a diet high in vegetables is fantastic for weight loss.

But as Moms everywhere will attest, it's not easy to ensure that we all eat enough vegetables. That's why I recommend that you Drink Your Vegetables every morning, and get a jump start on your vegetable intake for the day.

Vegetables play a vital role in your health. Drinking green vegetable juice in the morning is the most efficient way to get those much-needed nutrients into your body as quickly as possible.

Fresh green vegetable juice is loaded with potassium and will help you with water retention issues, bloating and lower the fat-storing hormone insulin. Green juice also aids in digestion, speeds your metabolism, nourishes your cells, and will help eliminate cravings and hunger throughout the day.

Green Juice Recipes and Tips

How do you drink your vegetables? I recommend using a juicer, but if you only have a blender then you can have a “kale smoothie” instead (see recipe below). You can also simply blend vegetables with some water and strain out the pulp. I will warn you though, juicing tastes a lot better than blending the vegetables together with water! If blending, you will want to find a combination of vegetables that work for you because blending has a completely different taste and texture than juicing.

Green Vegetable Juice: (in juicer)
*organic ingredients only*
2 kale leaves with stem
1 collard green leaf (or other dark leafy greens)
2 celery stalks
½ large cucumber
1 large juiced lemon
Parsley and cilantro
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper

Honestly, you can use any combination of green vegetables that suits you. Feel free to experiment! Just be sure to use some celery or cucumber, since they have a higher water content. You have to juice a lot of kale to equal the amount of juice you will get from a few stalks of celery.

Do not add fruits, carrots, or beets, because once they are juiced they are just pure sugar, which will keep you from burning fat.

If you don't have a juicer you can make a Kale Smoothie in the blender.

Kale Smoothie: (in blender)
2 Kale leaves
1 cup organic unsweetened almond milk
1 scoop Pure Nourish Natural Protein Shake 
1 mint leaf
½ cup raspberries or Stevia for extra flavor

If you are traveling and cannot juice fresh, then you can purchase an organic green juice powder. This definitely does not replace fresh juice but if you are in a pinch, it is the next best thing. You can also purchase pre-made juices from Whole Foods or other health food stores. Just read the ingredients carefully and don’t buy any that have fruit or any kind of sugar in them.

As you can see, there are so many great ways to Drink Your Vegetables! By starting your day with some green juice with your breakfast, you are getting a head start on fueling your body with the nutrients it needs for a healthy life, and boosting your weight loss success.
