I totally get that feeling - you’re stuck and you want to make a change.
You want results.
But you don’t even know where to begin.
So you muster up the motivation to make things happen, you read up on weight loss tips, and you set your goal and dive in. But pretty soon you’re overwhelmed and discouraged.
It’s easier to just give up.
The reason why you fail to lose weight isn’t because you’re not motivated enough. I know you’re motivated!!
We give up because it’s too much. It’s not doable, it’s not achievable and it’s not realistic.
Today, I want to offer you 3 easy steps to start losing weight that will help eliminate this pattern of overwhelm and failure.
(This is especially powerful if you have a lot of weight to lose and you’ve basically given up on being healthy because you’ve tried and failed so many times.)
First, make a list of all of the things that you want to start working on as it relates to your health and your weight loss.
For example, that list might have items like:
You’re probably doing some things that are not helping you with your weight loss goals, so whatever those things are for you, write down a complete list of everything you want to work on.
Now, rather than look at your list and feel overwhelmed and have the pressure of trying to do it all at once, just pick three items on your list.
Choose three items on your list and make a commitment to do those things for three days.
Why three days?
Because it’s totally doable! You can do anything for three days!
And once you’ve proven to yourself that you can do it for three days - go another three days.
Now, you’ve given yourself a win! And that feels SO GOOD!
The final step for weight loss at home is to keep going. Recommit yourself to another three days, and then another three days. Then tackle another three days. During this process you reset your mindset every three days.
Before you know it, you’ll be at 12, 21, even 30 days!
And as you reach the 30 day mark and keep going, your brain is going to establish a new habit. When lifestyle changes become habits, you no longer have to struggle. You’re not going through the withdrawals, and even better, your choices are more automatic and you no longer have to use as much motivation and will power to stick to your choices.
The final piece is to keep working on your list. Once you feel like you’ve conquered those three things - then choose a few more from your list and work on them.
Doing it this way gives you a clear plan, achievable steps and a powerful pattern to develop healthy habits that will lead you to your weight loss goals.
